Specialist Consultations
Initial appointments with Dr Samra include a comprehensive assessment, examination and management plan. Review consultations are for follow-up of an existing condition.

Important Information
Key things to know about referrals, rebates and billing before your appointment.
Referrals & Medicare Rebates
- A valid referral is required to claim a Medicare rebate.
- GP referrals are valid for 12 months; specialist referrals for 3 months, unless otherwise specified.
- You are welcome to attend without a referral, but no rebate will be claimable.
- A new injury, condition or body region may require an updated referral and may be billed as a new Initial Consultation.
Fees & Payment
- Consultation fees are privately billed and payable on the day.
- Medicare rebates are processed on the day where eligible.
- Additional fees may apply for procedures, injections and extended consultations.
- Private health insurance generally does not cover specialist consultation fees outside hospital admission.
Updated Medicare Rebates
Fees are effective from 1 July 2025 and reflect the increased Medicare rebate following Medicare's recognition of Sport & Exercise Medicine Physicians as Consultant Physicians, as announced by the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians.
Practice Booking Policies

Notice Period for Your Appointment
Specialist consultations are in high demand and difficult to fill at short notice. The principle behind our policy is simple — adequate notice lets us offer your booking to another patient on the waitlist.
- SMS confirmation sent 7 business days prior
- Reminder sent 3 business days prior
- Cancellation fee: 50% of consultation if less than 2 business days notice
Appointment Confirmation
We use SMS text messages from our practice management system (Xestro) to confirm every booking. The message includes your appointment time and consulting location.
Replying "Y" confirms your appointment. Replying "N" — or contacting our practice directly — will engage our administration team to cancel or reschedule your booking.
Patients without a mobile phone are required to contact our rooms to confirm attendance:

Cancellation Policy
Specialist consultations are in high demand and difficult to fill at short notice. Adequate notice allows us to offer your appointment to a patient on our waitlist.
If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please either respond to your confirmation SMS or call the clinic within the relevant notice window:
If a cancellation fee applies
- No further appointments will be made until the fee is settled.
- Any additional bookings already scheduled may be cancelled or placed on hold until the outstanding fee has been finalised.
SMS reminders are sent well in advance to provide as much time as reasonably possible to repurpose the consultation in the event you're unable to attend. We consider charging a cancellation fee a last resort — our motivation is to protect the quality of care we provide to you and to our other patients.
Late Arrival Policy
Late arrivals make it difficult for everyone — we maintain a relatively tight schedule and make every effort to begin your appointment at the time booked.
We understand that circumstances may arise unexpectedly. However, late arrivals tend to compromise the punctuality of service we are able to provide to you, as well as to our other patients.
If you arrive late, we reserve the right to reschedule or reduce the length of your consultation or procedure to ensure the next patient's appointment is not impacted. Rescheduled bookings may be subject to the relevant cancellation policy.
No Show Policy
For appointments missed without notice, a 50% fee will be applied. The required notice mirrors our cancellation policy above.
We consider a no-show fee a last resort. Our motivation is the quality of service we provide to you and to our other valued patients — every unattended appointment represents a slot that could have been used by another patient on our waitlist.
